Darou Salam: Reviews & Ratings
Everyone is so friendly, I’ve been eating here since working in Cincinnati last year to the point where now that I don’t work in Cincinnati I was willing to drive 40 mins just for the food! Love this place
food from darou salem restaurant is incredibly yummy. AND they make everything fresh fresh; there's a short wait between ordering and receiving order but it's more than worth it imo. plantains, dibi lamb, and fish are my go-tos! i bought lunch here for my best friend too, and she LOOOOOVED everything especially the fish and plantains now about atmosphere and structure. there's a chill, laid-back vibe within the restaurant. the order counter is clean and typically operated by gentle speaking and friendly persons. there's nice low lighting [easier on the eyes and it sets a nice vibe to decompress] there's both indoor and outdoor seating too, though the outdoor patio seating seems to accommodate more than just darou salem guests. so that may lead to less seating available during specific hours and/or on specific days. idk, there's been seating available for my party everytime we went, but still something to keep in mind if dining in overall though, i love it here! it's a whole vibe, the food is excellent, and the service, friendly
Dropped by for lunch while in the area and was very impressed by this hole in the wall spot. we ordered the lanb and the fish dish. The flavors were very unique and unlike any dishes we have tried before. The jollof rice is exquisitely seasoned and the rice is an interesting texture, each grain is a lot smaller and firmer than basmati rice and almost feels like bulgur grains. The sauces were very savory and complex. the lamb was perfectly barbecued and brisket-like. Also got a smoothie and a hibiscus drink, both very interesting and complex flavors, hints of orange blossom and a starchy potato (taro? yukka?) in the smoothie and the hibiscus was extremely different than the hibiscus tea drinks commonly sold. We dined in and had come in around 1 PM, half an hour after opening. the restraint was quiet and there was just one person there getting a pick up order. The chairs were all pulled on to the table and there was no one dining in, but we got our food at the counter and then pulled out chairs to sit. No other diners came in during the lunch hour, so it was quiet and we had the place to ourselves. The food was served in to go boxes even though we were dining in, seems as if most of the lunch customers are take out orders (there were several pick ups while we were in store). There is also some very cute cozy seating in the front yard of the restaurant, it was too cold when we came to sit outside unfortunately. definitely would recommend, this is a hidden gem.
The best Senegalese food I've ever had in the US. It is superrrrr authentic, and it hits the spot. I've only ever tried their thiebudienne, but it's delicious and very comforting. The atmosphere is ok, I'd recommend getting take away and eating outside on a nice day.
The food is very delicious!!! If you like african or Senegalese cuisine, the Thiebou jen is my favorite.
I have tried senegalese cuisine before. With such great reviews on Google, I must say my expectation was high. A little frustrated. The food is just good. The grilled lamb was a little too hard to chew, chicken was better. Good portion for the price. The place is clean, has an african vibe, the staffs are nice. I'll probably visit again.
the staff greeted me instantly , the service was a reasonable wait time 15 min as he said and the food was delicious. So flavorful I will be back again and again
Shout out to Mouhamdou's parents the lamb we had for AP Psych day was so freaking good and the onions had a really unique and good flavor highly recomend
